Red Dress Gala Speaker

“Our hearts need to be strong in order to live this complex and crazy life. To help be ready for the adventures and experiences that shape us. We cannot just be concerned about our hearts when we are sitting on the exam table talking to our doctors. Or when we are hearing the machine beeps while we lay there cold in the hospital room. We have to prioritize our heart health before we even get through the health system….Your heart is the powerhouse. It is only as strong as the fuel it is given. But it is not invincible. Our hearts help guide our dreams and the love we have for life. Everything we metaphorically give our heart to carry, will be carried better and thrive if we actually focused on keeping our heart healthy every single day.”

Thank you to Alpha Phi Sorority at Kettering University for inviting me to be the keynote speaker for their Red Dress Gala. Today we raised money and awareness for women’s heart health. I loved the opportunity to speak about following my heart as I moved from engineering to medicine, carrying patient stories in my heart, and the ways women’s heart health is important.
