FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct primary care is a membership based primary care service that does not bill insurance but provides comprehensive and affordable care for patients and focuses on quality care. Direct primary care is not health insurance.

What does membership cover?

The membership covers primary care services, preventative screenings, sick or acute care visits, simple procedures, chronic care management, and access to discounted medications, labs, and imaging services.

How do I communicate with Dr Harris?

There are multiple options to communicate with Dr Harris!

You can call, text, portal message, or email her directly through secure services.

Patients can designate their preferred way of communication and will have the option of virtual and in-office appointments (if appropriate based on medical concern).

Additionally, there are after hours communication options for patients for urgent concerns.

What if I need labs, medications, or imaging?

There will be occasions that labs, medications, and imaging are recommended.

Some patients can use their insurance for outside services such as labs, medications, and imaging where the third party company can bill their insurance.

For patients who opt to not use their insurance for labs, medications, or imaging or do not have insurance Dr Harris works with local lab companies to get discounted labs (70-90% discounts), has access to medication coupons (70-90% discounts), can dispense medications directly at wholesale price, and can help coordinate cash pricing for imaging.

Note: Depending on a patient’s insurance discounted options through Harris Family Health may be more affordable.

What if I need a specialist?

Dr Harris is experienced in working up and managing a diverse range of primary care problems from head to toe but sometimes other specialist’s knowledge and expertise will be needed. Dr Harris refers patients as needed to local specialists.

What if I need to go to the emergency room?

Harris Family Health is not an emergency service. Dr Harris will provide comprehensive care and access to decrease the need for emergency room visits but there are times when the emergency room is the best and most recommended option. If a patient needs emergency services they are expected to utilize their health insurance (if available) to pay for the ED or hospital visit. Harris Family Health is not health insurance and all patients are recommended to have a form of health insurance to help cover hospital visit, ED visits, and surgeries.

Can I meet Dr Harris before joining?

Yes. If you still have questions or are undecided you can set up a Meet and Greets.

Do you take health insurance?

No. We do not take health insurance and do not bill health insurance. We provide covered primary care services through the membership and special discounted pricing for medications and labs. Individuals are welcome to use their health insurance outside of Harris Family Health, if applicable. Dr Harris is out of network for health insurances.

Do I need health insurance?

Yes, for other services. It is recommended that you still have health insurance to cover hospital visits, emergency room visits, and surgeries. Direct primary care is not health insurance and only provides primary care services.
